Most memorable dance memory: Performing for the opening ceremony of Hamburg’s press ball in 2023. It was an amazing feeling to be on stage with all my friends, after the months of hard work and practice we put in!
Hobbies outside of dancing: Kickboxing, 3D-Modeling, Volleyball and Salsa
What you want to say to newcomers: Don’t be scared of making mistakes or other people dancing around you! We all just pretend to know what we’re doing—you just get better at pretending
The President shall be ultimately responsible for the conduct and day-to-day running of the Society.
The President shall have the right to preside at all meetings of the members of the Society and at all meetings of the Committee. Should the President be absent, or decline to take the Chair, the Committee shall elect another member of the Committee to Chair the meeting.

Most memorable dance moment: Placing 4th in Beginner/Novice Foxtrot (my least favourite dance!) at my first competition

What I want to say to newcomers: The most important rule of dance is that you enjoy it, so don’t worry about getting something wrong! And, if you want any guidance, you’re surrounded by (in my unbiased opinion) a wonderful group of people who are happy to help. Come and give it a try!
MSc Management
The Secretary shall be responsible to the President for the administration of the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- maintaining a register of all the members of the Society;
- giving notice of meetings of the members and the Committee;
- drawing up the agenda and minutes of those meetings and, on approval of the Committee, ensuring they are available for any member of the Society;
- writing and submitting the annual report in accordance with the Students’ Association deadlines;
- re-registering the society with the Students’ Association each year prior to Week 12 of Semester 2;
- taking responsibility for the operation and updating of a suitable society web-page displaying (at a minimum) current society contacts, the Constitution, the Code of Conduct, and Risk Assessment;
- co-ordinating and regulating access to the web facilities used by the Society;
- being mindful of relevant data protection legislation when handling personal data;
- regularly keeping members of the Society informed of affairs by e-mail, using the society mailing list.

Most memorable dance memory: The Summer Ball. a magical event for socialising by dancing
Hobbies outside of dancing: Reading, hiking, skiing and taking care of animals
What I want to say to newcomers: Ballroom dancing is so fun, it was a real escape from the stress of my first year at university. Don’t be afraid of trying, everyone is very nice and supportive.
The Treasurer shall be responsible to the President for the finances of the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- keeping proper records of the Society’s financial transactions in accordance with the University’s established procedure;
- developing and maintaining good practice procedures in line with the Students’ Association’s policy, including maintaining two signatories on all accounts; the Treasurer and President;
- ensuring that bills are paid on time, being aware when documentation requires the signature of other Officers;
- ensuring that cash and cheques are banked in accordance with the University’s established procedure;
- preparing a budget at the start of the academic year for the Society and regularly informing the Committee of progress of that budget;
- preparing an end of year report on the Society’s finances, and making this report available to the University and Society members;
- ensuring that all records, procedures and accounts are available on request to the Committee and the university;
- developing and maintaining a manual of written procedures for all aspects of the Treasurer’s responsibility.

Most memorable dance moment: Getting smacked in the face while social dancing a jive and then dancing a quickstep with my partner holding a tissue to my face to stop the nosebleed.
Hobbies outside of dancing: running, football, reading
What I want to say to newcomers: Yes, it is scary at first but it’s so worth it and nothing beats a good quickstep home after a night out.

The Head of Attire will be responsible to the President for the Society’s outfitting. This includes, but is not limited to:
- designing, ordering and distributing of all Society apparel, as well as the acquisition, storage and maintenance of team attire;
- ensuring, along with the Team Captain, that all competitors adhere to the relevant dress restrictions at competitions.
Currently studies/studied: History of Art and English Literature
Started dancing: Ballet and flamenco from age 3, started ballroom last year!

Most memorable dance memory: Nighttime tango in the rain by McEwan Hall.
Hobbies outside of dancing: Following naturally from dance I guess, anything creative that allows me to hear music! Whether that’s because I’m using my hands and listening to music at the same time, like making jewellery or drawing, or because I’m playing the music myself: on the guitar, the piano, or singing
What you want to say to newcomers: I’ve met friends for lifethanks to this society – the most wonderful, caring people – and in my unbiased(!!) opinion, we have the coolest events of any society

- organising the annual Winter and End-of-Year Balls;
- organising other social events throughout the year;
- being mindful of the diversity of the Society and accessibility when organising social events.

Hobbies outside of dancing: Puppy walks, yoga
What you want to say to newcomers: “Have fun and sign up for as many competitions as possible”
Webmaster shall be responsible to the President for the management of web facilities used by the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- ensuring that the Society’s email, domain name, and hosting is current;
- taking responsibility for the operation and updating of a suitable society web-page content
- be mindful of relevant data protection legislation when handling personal data;
- maintain an awareness of the University guidelines on web and social media publishing;
- ensuring that publicity material for the Club’s classes and events is produced and distributed.

What I want to say to newcomers: Come to ICDC!!!

Most memorable dance memory: Seeing dancers far better than me fall flat on their butts at a big fancy comp. It’s a one way to get a perspective you need to better cope with your fears.
Hobbies outside of dancing: Mountain biking, handball, playing ukulele, navel gazing
What I want to say to newcomers: Learning these dances is hard, so don’t be your worst enemy and don’t be too hard on yourself.
