What I want to say to newcomers: Just enjoy every beat of the music! When starting, it is not about being perfect, but actually having fun with the movement

Most memorable dance memory: Finally joining EUBDS after waiting a whole year and dreaming of dancing due to Covid restrictions!
Hobbies outside of dancing: Knitting, Reconstructing historical garments, Photography, Mountaineering, Equestrianism & Swimming
What you want to say to newcomers: “EUBDS is such a warm and welcoming society where all levels of dance experience are embraced, so give it a go! I’ve never danced in my life before joining and I haven’t felt anything but encouragement from everyone here. Besides, classes are fun and you get to meet a wonderful dance family”
Currently studies: PhD in particle physics
Started dancing: I started dancing seriously in my 3rd year of undergrad. I had dabbled a bit before but nothing serious.
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dances: I can never answer this question. It genuinely changes very rapidly with how I feel that second.
Most memorable dance memory: A friend couldn’t make it to a competition so we video-called her as she wanted to watch. After the competition was over we still got to waltz round the room over Skype
Hobbies outside of dancing: Outside of dancing i am also part of the philosophy society and organise events for them.

Studies/Studied: Spanish and Linguistics
Started dancing: Started ballet and tap at 3 years old, and has been dancing ever since, but is brand new to ballroom styles.
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dances: Cha cha
Most memorable dance memory: Any dance competition with my incredible team in high school!
Hobbies outside of dancing: Watching movies, exploring new places
What you want to say to newcomers: “I’m new as well, so we’ll figure it out together!”

Started dancing: First year of my undergrad
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Foxtrot, Jive (I also compete in Classical Sequence, where my favourite is probably the Saunter Reve)
Most memorable dance memory: Probably the first time I wore a ballroom dress to represent the University in the team match (B team quickstep!)
Hobbies outside of dancing: Wind Band, baking, swimming, designing experiments for science festivals
What I want to say to newcomers: “I’ve loved ballroom dancing, and EUBDS ever since I’ve joined. I’ve made some wonderful friends from all different universities, and had some fantastic experiences with the society. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!”
