Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Waltz and Tango
Most memorable dance memory: Winning Beginners Waltz and Quickstep in IVDC 2020 was a highlight, but , also getting the chance to watch Yuan Shao Yang and Qi Chong Xuan dominate the advanced category at IVDC.
Hobbies outside of dancing: I’m a massive foodie. I love to cook, and to find hole-in-the-wall places that do phenomenal food. I also enjoy travelling, cooking, and photography.
What I want to say to newcomers: “I hope you enjoy the classes, the competitions, the practice as much as I did! Looking forward to seeing you guys! Additionally, if you’re an anime fan, I would highly recommend watching Ballroom e Youkoso”
The President shall be ultimately responsible for the conduct and day-to-day running of the Society.
The President shall have the right to preside at all meetings of the members of the Society and at all meetings of the Committee. Should the President be absent, or decline to take the Chair, the Committee shall elect another member of the Committee to Chair the meeting.

Hobbies outside of dancing: D&D, sailing, piano, sleeping whenever possible
What you want to say to newcomers: “This society has shaped my university life, pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best ways, and I’ve met so many cool people – I’m so excited to help run another year of dancing and fun socials, and I hope you’re there to join us!”
The Secretary shall be responsible to the President for the administration of the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- maintaining a register of all the members of the Society;
- giving notice of meetings of the members and the Committee;
- drawing up the agenda and minutes of those meetings and, on approval of the Committee, ensuring they are available for any member of the Society;
- writing and submitting the annual report in accordance with the Students’ Association deadlines;
- re-registering the society with the Students’ Association each year prior to Week 12 of Semester 2;
- taking responsibility for the operation and updating of a suitable society web-page displaying (at a minimum) current society contacts, the Constitution, the Code of Conduct, and Risk Assessment;
- co-ordinating and regulating access to the web facilities used by the Society;
- being mindful of relevant data protection legislation when handling personal data;
- regularly keeping members of the Society informed of affairs by e-mail, using the society mailing list.

Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Ballroom – Viennese Waltz; Latin – Jive (even if it kills my feet)
Most memorable dance memory: Being in the atmosphere that is IVDC in Blackpool and watching everyone on the floor. It’s a quite something
Hobbies outside of dancing: Playing violin in orchestras and pit bands for musicals; bullet journalling and doodling & origami on the go
What I want to say to newcomers: Don’t be afraid to come alone and give this a shot. I came alone for my first lesson, having absolutely zero expectations. I never imagined I would enjoy it so much or meet such amazing people in this society. So, I hope you can find that here too. Oh, and always have fun with it!
The Treasurer shall be responsible to the President for the finances of the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- keeping proper records of the Society’s financial transactions in accordance with the University’s established procedure;
- developing and maintaining good practice procedures in line with the Students’ Association’s policy, including maintaining two signatories on all accounts; the Treasurer and President;
- ensuring that bills are paid on time, being aware when documentation requires the signature of other Officers;
- ensuring that cash and cheques are banked in accordance with the University’s established procedure;
- preparing a budget at the start of the academic year for the Society and regularly informing the Committee of progress of that budget;
- preparing an end of year report on the Society’s finances, and making this report available to the University and Society members;
- ensuring that all records, procedures and accounts are available on request to the Committee and the university;
- developing and maintaining a manual of written procedures for all aspects of the Treasurer’s responsibility.
The Head of Attire will be responsible to the President for the Society’s outfitting. This includes, but is not limited to:
- designing, ordering and distributing of all Society apparel, as well as the acquisition, storage and maintenance of team attire;
- ensuring, along with the Team Captain, that all competitors adhere to the relevant dress restrictions at competitions.
Currently studies/studied: Post-doc in Classics at UoE. Studied at Pisa (BA, MA) and Cambridge (PhD)

Most memorable dance memory: Last waltz at the Viennese Ball in the Hofburg Palace

What you want to say to newcomers: “Warning, dancing is addictive! “
The Social Secretary shall be responsible to the President for the organisation of all social events throughout the year. This includes, but is not limited to:
- organising the annual Winter and End-of-Year Balls;
- organising other social events throughout the year;
- being mindful of the diversity of the Society and accessibility when organising social events.
Currently studies: Completed PhD in Precision Medicine, working as Scientific Manager
Started dancing: Different styles since approx 7 years old, with EUBDS from 2017
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dances: Ballroom Tango, Latin Samba and Paso Doble
Most memorable dance memory: Getting to finals of Blackpool in Pre-Inter WQ
Hobbies outside of dancing: Puppy walks, yoga
What you want to say to newcomers: “Have fun and sign up for as many competitions as possible”
Webmaster shall be responsible to the President for the management of web facilities used by the Society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- ensuring that the Society’s email, domain name, and hosting is current;
- taking responsibility for the operation and updating of a suitable society web-page content
- be mindful of relevant data protection legislation when handling personal data;
- maintain an awareness of the University guidelines on web and social media publishing;
- ensuring that publicity material for the Club’s classes and events is produced and distributed.

Started dancing: Various styles from a young age, Ballroom from September 2021
Favourite Ballroom/Latin dance: Tango and Cha Cha (and Paso Doble in casual settings!)
Most memorable dance memory: Feeling the bass rumbling through the floor at IVDC and watching our couples whirl around the competition floor!
Hobbies outside of dancing: Reading, crafts, hanging out with animals, D&D
What I want to say to newcomers: “Whether you’ve danced before, or this is your first time dancing, don’t be afraid to get on the floor! The more you go for it, the more fun it’ll be! And don’t fear competitions, they’re not so scary and I’ve made the best memories travelling across the UK with the team!
